Cheated by an Image (Live)

Images that don’t tell us the whole story. Images that intentionally trick us. Images that go to great lengths to capture our attention. When was the last time you felt cheated by an image?

In this live event, musical duo Moonfish accompanies the personal stories and intimate confessions of people who have been baited, lured, and lied upon by digital and online images.

From misleading purchases on internet marketplaces to profile pictures on dating apps, from babies on TikTok to homestay rentals gone wrong, the audience will hear contributions from artists, curators, researchers and experts from the field of photography and visual culture, and will be given the chance to share their own personal stories with the rest of the participants.
