The first instalment of Work in Progress brings together four artists who will share their most recent projects or those they are currently working on, as well as publications that have just come off the press or are about to be released. Sophie-Anne Herin will present a body of work centred on the theme of the threshold, exploring the perception and ambiguity of images by creating situations in which what we see is never entirely defined, as in the project En creux. Giacomo Bianco will recount some significant stages of his photographic work, reflecting on the boundaries between artistic research and the commercial sphere, and on the role of the photographer’s authorship, capable of traversing different contexts. Sofia Masini will share This shouldn’t discourage you, a project on failure and rejection within the art system, transformed into an opportunity to rediscover the pleasure of artistic practice and give it new meaning. Finally, Dionigi Mattia Gagliardi will present a selection of Numero Cromatico’s photography books dedicated to the five senses, in which imagination becomes a critical tool, capable of stimulating new forms of perception.
